The Russian salad is an ideal dish to eat with the family, especially in the hot months. It is a refreshing food, very tasty and ideal for children's diets due to its high content of nutrients and its energy value.

As its name suggests, it is a typical dish from Russia, where it is also known as Olivier salad as this recipe was first made by Lucien Olivier, a chef at a well-known restaurant in Moscow.


  • 2 potatoes
  • 3 carrots
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 small can of peas or 1 cup of frozen peas
  • 1 cans of tuna in oil
  • Homemade or pot mayonnaise
  • Salt
  • Tips: you can add chopped olives or raisins or another ingredient.

The fundamental base of this salad is the potato that is combined with other vegetables, according to the taste of the people and the traditions in the different countries. Follow the step by step of this delicious recipe:

1. Peel the carrots and cook them in a saucepan with salt over low heat. Add the potatoes without the skin. Let them cook for 20 to 25 minutes. Add the egg and wait 10 more minutes.

2. Take out all the ingredients. When they are warm, cut the potatoes into cubes. Do the same with the egg and carrots.

3. Put everything in a large platter or bowl and add peas and the flaked tuna.

4. Make a homemade mayonnaise and add it to the source. Stir carefully so that all the ingredients are soaked in mayonnaise. Put it in the fridge until before serving.
